Soil, water conservation meeting is Wednesday
The Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District meets from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation Service’s center located at 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 148, Waimea.
Those in need of an auxiliary aid or service to attend the meeting should call Margaret Fowler at 885-6602, ext. 100.

There will be no Kailua-Kona Seniors meeting Wednesday. A members-only program will take place.
The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 20 at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.

Women’s exercise classes held at church
“Get Fit! Kona,” an exercise class for women, celebrates its first anniversary Thursday. The class meets from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Grace Community Church, 74-4889 Palani Road, and is a ministry of the church’s Women of Grace group.
Certified group fitness instructor Jennifer Lindquist incorporates a variety of forms of exercise into circuit training classes, including pilates, kickboxing, hot hula and strength training. She demonstrates high- and low-impact options so all women can benefit.
Lindquist, an American Sign Language interpreter, can assist deaf and hearing-impaired students before and after class, and provides visual cueing during workout sessions.
Classes cost $5 per session or $15 per month. Bring an exercise mat and a set of hand weights.

Traffic safety group meets Thursday
The Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Community Halau, Building G of the West Hawaii Civic Center.
The monthly meeting offers the public an opportunity to meet with county and state officials who can help mitigate traffic problems. Everyone is welcome.
County band performs ‘Love Songs’ on Friday
Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation and the West Hawaii County Band are offering “Love Songs,” a free concert from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Conductor Lisa Archuletta will direct the band.
Seating is not provided; bring a chair.
